Goal
The 5G Field Lab Amsterdam Zuidoost tests new 5G applications to make cities more sustainable, safer and pleasant. KPN, in cooperation with Nokia, has recently built an experimental 5G network in the Johan Cruijff ArenA and the surrounding Arena boulevard. The 5G Field Lab plans to significantly increase the network capacity in the area and reduce the response time of the mobile network. This makes it possible to send high-resolution camera images real-time over the network, partly thanks to a test license of the 3.5 GHz frequency band used. Initial tests for 5G applications are planned in 2019.
